-An FPV (First Person View) drone is a small unmanned aircraft controlled by a remote pilot. Video data is fed from a small low resolution camera in the nose of the drone through the central flight controller and out to a video transmitter where it is broadcast on the 4.8 gHz frequency. The signal is picked up by either a monitor unit or a set of goggles worn by the pilot, allowing them to see from the point of view of the drone. This has enabled a wide variety of activities from professional drone racing, to freestyle competitions flying through dilapidated factories.
I have been flying racing drones off and on for the last seven years. I have built five or six of them, and flown many more. Building a drone requires basic electrical skills, soldering, reading circuit diagrams, and basic radio knowledge.
